September marks a month of compassion, understanding, and unity as we observe National Suicide Prevention Month. This dedicated time provides an opportunity for individuals, communities, and organizations to come together and shed light on an issue that affects countless lives worldwide. It’s a time to spread awareness, educate, and foster a sense of hope for those who may be struggling.

Having experienced the devastating loss of a loved one to suicide, I know first-hand the life altering impact suicide has on family, friends, and communities. Since that tragic time, I have been on a mission to learn more about depression and mental health. Initiating a genuine conversation about their well-being can provide a lifeline and create a safe space for them to share their feelings. 

Seeking Professional Help:

For individuals dealing with severe mental health issues, seeking professional help is vital. Encourage those in need to connect with mental health experts, therapists, counselors, or helpline services. Recognizing the signs of distress and actively encouraging professional intervention can play a significant role in preventing suicide.
