From Healing Maps: What Can Psychedelic Patients Do to Get the Most Out of Treatment?

From Healing Maps

Studies show that psychedelics can be extraordinarily effective at treating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. We also know psychedelics aren’t always a magic bullet on their own. Their effectiveness can be augmented by lifestyle changes, deeper wellness practices, and traditional therapy. So what are some things psychedelic patients do to get the most out of treatment?

Hopemark’s own Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Linsay Heimberg, weighs in below. Linsay is an experienced mental health therapist with a background in art therapy and mindfulness. Having completed a year-long training at the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) for psychedelic-assisted therapy, she is enthusiastic about the evolving research and anticipated FDA approval of MDMA and Psilocybin, among other psychedelics, as medicine for various mental health issues such as PTSD and treatment-resistant depression. Linsay is also actively pursuing a certificate in MDMA-Assisted Therapy through MAPS.

With a diverse history of working with various populations, including youth, adults, and families involved in the child welfare system in Chicago and its surrounding communities, Linsay brings a wealth of experience. She has also recently served in a residential treatment facility for adults struggling with suicidality and symptoms related to Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), PTSD, OCD, and Eating Disorders.
