Walking Together for a Cause on October 21st: AFSP Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk

October is not just about falling leaves and pumpkin spice lattes; in Chicago, a significant event is set to take place: the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Walk! This event serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of supporting mental health initiatives and coming together as a community to combat the stigma surrounding mental health.

The Out of the Darkness Chicagoland Walk is more than just a walk; it’s a symbol of unity and hope. Thousands of participants, including the Hopemark Health team, will gather to honor loved ones lost to suicide and raise funds for research, education, and advocacy programs aimed at preventing suicide. By joining this event, you’re not only showing your support for those affected by suicide but also contributing to a cause that can make a real difference.

The Out of the Darkness Walk provides a sense of community and solidarity. In a world where many individuals battling mental health issues feel isolated and alone, this event offers them a chance to connect with others who understand their struggles.

It encourages open conversations about mental health, fosters a sense of belonging, and reminds us that we are not alone in our journeys. Mental health affects everyone, directly or indirectly, and yet it remains a topic often shrouded in stigma. Walking this October is not just about raising funds; it’s about fostering compassion, understanding, and a sense of unity.

Let’s walk together, talk openly about mental health, and work towards a world where no one has to suffer in silence. You can register for the Chicagoland walk here. Live in a different city? There are over 400 events around the US. See if your city has an event here.
